The Fitting Room: Your Guide to Bottoms and Suspenders

Just like bras, bottoms should feel comfortable, secure, and supportive without digging in or shifting throughout the day. Whether you prefer a seamless fit or a more structured style, here’s how to find the perfect size and shape for you.

Model wears blue embroidered longline plunge bra, suspender belt and g-string from the Birdsong collection.

Step 1: Measure your waist

Why this matters: Your waist measurement helps determine how snug or relaxed the knickers will feel around your midsection.

How to measure:

  • Locate the narrowest part of your waist—this is usually just above your belly button.
  • Wrap a soft measuring tape around your waist, keeping it snug but comfortable.
  • Make sure the tape is parallel to the floor and not digging in.

Step 2: Measure your hips

Why this matters: Your hip measurement determines how well the knickers will sit around your bottom and thighs.

How to measure:

  • Stand with your feet together and find the fullest part of your hips and bum.
  • Wrap a soft measuring tape around this area, keeping it level and not too tight.
  • Check the measurement while standing naturally—don’t suck in or adjust your posture.
